USA
"The Way Back" is a dance film examining human navigation's intricacies through life's twists and turns. It explores the concept of getting lost along our paths and confronting the formidable forces and energies that threaten to keep us divided. The film follows an unexpected separation and the relentless pursuit of reunion, reconnection, and the profound significance of finding our way back amidst the chaos.
words from the filmmaker
This film became an integral part of the curriculum for the University of North Carolina School of the Arts Summer Intensive – Professional Studies Workshop. Our goal was to explore the aforementioned concept in an abstract form, using dance on film as the medium. It was crucial for us to guide students in bridging their traditional dance training with the unique demands of performing for the camera, allowing them to apply the skills and techniques they developed in the studio to this new context.
why we love this film
Wonderful use of space, a large cast & storytelling.
